  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

    At NeuroNest Center, ABA services focus on socially significant skill development, increasing functional communication, addressing interfering behaviours, increasing personal independent skills and encouraging flexibility in play and routines. Typically, ABA services are offered fewer than 20 hours per week and focus on a handful of goals identified collaboratively by parents and clinicians. 

    Benefits for ABA Clients:

    • Individualized Assessment and Service Plan: Each client receives a tailored assessment and service plan that incorporates the parents’ goals for their child or youth, overseen by our Clinical Supervisor with contributions from other professionals.
    • Collaborative Approach: We collaborate with your childs service team, such as teachers and other professionals, to ensure a collaborative approach to each individual
    • Therapy and Intervention: Our experienced staff provide naturalisitc therapy in our center.
    • Parent Coaching and Training: We offer coaching to help parents facilitate the generalization of skills to home and community settings, promoting consistency across environments.

     

  • Summer Social Program

    Now offering a Summer Social Program from July 2-August 29

    For children and youth between the ages of 3-14 years old at 14 Concourse Gate, Ottawa ON

    What makes our camp unique: We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate the needs of your child (i.e., half days, half weeks, etc,). 

    Our Approach: We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all format, we individualize our programs and activities based on your child's interests and what they are motivated by. Through our engaging activities, your child will practice valuable skills such as:

    • Cooperation and turn taking
    • Building friendships
    • Self-advocacy
    • Developing problem solving skills
    • Communicating to others
    • And more!

  • Caregiver Education - The Balance Program

    We are excited to introduce The Balance Program, a parent-implemented, skills-based approach designed to teach young children essential communication, coping, and cooperation skills, all while strengthening the bond between parent and child.

    Program Details:

    • 12-Week Introductory Program:
      This structured 12-week program offers a comprehensive introduction to skills that support your child’s growth and development.
       
    • Parent & Child Sessions:
      Each week, both parent and child will attend two sessions per week with a skilled clinician, providing hands-on guidance and support.
       
    • At-Home Practice:
      Parents are encouraged to practice with their child for 10-20 minutes per day at home, reinforcing the skills learned during the sessions. This consistent practice helps solidify new behaviors and strategies.
       
    • Flexible Service Delivery Options:
      To accommodate different family needs, we offer in-person, remote, or hybrid service delivery, allowing for a convenient and personalized experience that fits your schedule.

    By participating in The Balance Program, you will not only help your child develop crucial skills but also deepen your connection with them, creating a positive, supportive environment for growth and learning.
     

  • Early Intervention Program

    Our Early Intervention program provides our youngest learners with the skills, tools, and knowledge needed to grow into confident and independent individuals. Incorporating the principles of ABA, and utlising your child's motivation, we focus on teaching new skills while reinforcing positive behaviors, increasing cooperation and minimizing challenges.

    The program includes a comprehensive assessment of each child’s abilities, strengths, interests and areas for improvement. Through structured play activities, we teach vital social skills such as turn-taking, communication, tolerance and sharing. We prioritize self advocacy, social communication and connection through engaging activities.

    Additionally, we emphasize self-help skills, helping children achieve greater independence in daily routines such as dressing or meal times. We use stratgeies to encourage cooperation and decrease interferring behaviours, while providing parents with training and resources to support skill generaliztion at home.

  • School-Age Program

    Our School Age Program utilizes a variety of strategies to support the development of children with autism and other developmental needs. We complete an assessment to identify each child's strengths, areas for improvement, and interests using specialized assessments like VBMAPP, ABLLS and AFLS.

    We use individualized strategies, motivation, and behaviour momentum to work on social skills, communication and academics. Children learn social how to initiate conversations, take part in collaborative play and build friendships. We focus on promoting self advocacy, excutive functioning and self management skills.

    As part of our holistic approach, we provide training and support to help generalize skills to the home environment. This can be done through parent coaching or consultation and will help increase cooperation in different environments. 

  • Counselling Services

    Many challenges are best addressed in a one-on-one setting, where you can feel safe and supported. Through counselling, you can express sensitive feelings and explore how they impact your life and relationships. Based on your unique needs, we can assist you in various ways, including:

    • Discovering new coping strategies to manage stress more effectively.
    • Exploring effective problem-solving approaches to navigate challenges.
    • Enhancing your relationships and connections by developing communication skills and emotional awareness.
    • Accessing valuable information and resources for additional support.

  • Workshop Facilitation

    We offer customized workshops designed to meet the unique needs of various groups, including schools, daycares, medical and dental practices, parent groups, and more. Our workshops aim to provide valuable knowledge and practical strategies to support children with autism and developmental challenges.

  • Social skills group

    At NeuroNest, our Social Skills Groups are led by a team of skilled professionals, including speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, mental health practitioners, and other specialists. These sessions are supported by educators and trained staff who follow best practices for working with children with autism. We believe that learning is most effective through positive, real-life experiences, and our programs provide a safe, inclusive environment where children can actively engage and practice essential social skills.

    To support success and independence, we offer a variety of structured tools tailored to meet each child’s unique needs:

    • A well-organized physical environment to minimize distractions and enhance focus
    • Visual schedules to promote clarity and predictability
    • Visual aids to facilitate communication and social participation
    • Incorporation of personal interests and relevant themes to increase engagement

    Teaching social skills is an evolving process. At NeuroNest, we continuously adjust our approach to meet the changing needs of our participants. Our group-based programs are designed to improve communication and social interaction abilities for children, teens, and young adults.

    **Personalized Social Group Plans**

    Each child’s progress is closely monitored by a licensed clinician, who sets individualized goals focused on communication, emotional regulation, engagement, and social interaction. Weekly assessments track progress, and interventions are adjusted as needed to support growth.

    At the end of the program, we provide Individual Progress Reports, which offer detailed insights into each child’s achievements. These reports are useful for discussing strengths and needs, especially during school IEP meetings, helping to inform future planning and support. Our goal is to ensure that every child leaves our program with enhanced social skills, greater confidence, and a solid foundation for independent living.

  • Abeer

    Our Clinical Director is Abeer Lababenah, she is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA) and Qualified Behaviour Analyst (QBA). She has many years of experience working with individuals and families living with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Abeer provides services both in Arabic and English. She is a dedicated professional who oversees all clinical operations at NeuroNest. In her free time, Abeer enjoys listening to music and spending quality time with her children. 

     

  • Mohamad-Ali

    Mohamad-Ali is our Director of Operations here at NeuroNest. Prior to working here, he managed a medical clinic for over 7 years. Mohamad holds a degree in Dentistry and Biology and confidently oversees our day to day operations. He enjoys travelling the world and keeping in touch with his family.

  • Kaitlin

    Our Director of Children’s Services is Kaitlin Maher, she is a Recreologist who holds a diploma in Recreation and Leisure. In the fall, Kaitlin will be taking her exam to become a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA). Prior to working at NeuroNest Treatment Center, Kaitlin was a Program Manager at Emerging Minds for 12 years, prior to that she worked in Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusive Services with the City of Ottawa. She has 15 years experience in the field and is committed to remaining up to date on current practices. As a Mom of 4, Kaitlin enjoys an active lifestyle and can often be found in the garden or enjoying time with her children. 


     

  • Victoria

    Our Program Manager is Victoria Bathurst, she is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and holds a diploma in Autism and Behavioural Sciences. Victoria has worked in the field of education/child care for the past 12 years and is a committed member of our staff who is in the process of becoming a Certified Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) Instructor. Victoria values a naturalistic and play based approach with her clients, incorporating their interests in each session. Prior to working at NeuroNest Treatment Center, Victoria worked as a Program Manager at Emerging Minds, she has also worked in a variety of childcare settings. As an animal lover, Victoria enjoys spending time hiking and camping with her rescue dog, Fiona. 


     

  • Rawan

    Meet our Administrator; Rawan. She brings 5 years experience in the healthcare field. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and a Medical Assistant diploma. Throughout her career, she's worked in both reception and supervisory roles, where she developed a passion for creating smooth, efficient workflows and providing excellent service to both patients and staff. From managing schedules and handling patient inquiries, to supporting day-to-day clinic operations, she strives to ensure every detail is handled with care and professionalism.
